Communicating Student Learning and Growth
At Ranfurly Primary School, the learning and growth of every student is a shared priority. We value collaboration between students, families, and staff, ensuring a strong partnership between home and school. Our goal is to empower every learner to maximise their potential while recognising and celebrating individual growth.
Communication about student learning is transparent, relevant, and ongoing. At Ranfurly, we provide a range of opportunities for families to engage in their child’s learning journey, including:
-
Meet the Teacher and Open Classroom sessions in February (followed by a family BBQ)
-
Learning Talks in Term 1 and Term 3
Learning Talks are a valuable opportunity for students to take an active role in sharing their learning journey. During these sessions, students lead the conversation with their families, discussing their progress, achievements, and areas for growth. They reflect on their learning goals, share examples of their work, and explain what they are working towards next. This approach empowers students to take ownership of their learning, build confidence, and develop important communication and self-reflection skills.
Formal Student Progress Reports are provided at the end of Semester One (June) and Semester Two (December).
At Ranfurly, we follow a structured assessment schedule that supports teachers to continuously monitor student learning. This enables staff to clearly identify what students already know, what they are ready to learn now, and what their next steps should be, ensuring teaching is targeted and responsive to individual needs.
